Show A PIONEER IS DEAD mrs 19 M foutz call ed home HER INSPIRING RECORD reared a large family on the frontier stirs mrs john hood laid to rest died at pleasant grove august 6 1891 3 of old age Mari margaret munn foutz daughter of david dabid and mary munn she was born dec 11 1801 in fralia lin county pennsylvania and was waa left an orphan her parents both dying left her to be cared for by strangers she married jacob foutz fontz july 22 1882 and in the year 1827 they moved irom from Fenn pennsylvania sylvania to richland county ohio where they joined the church chorch of jesus christ of latter dav saints in the year 1831 they then moved to Mise missouri ouri purchased a farm on crooked river and were at hauns hanns mill when that awful tragedy occurred mr foutz was waa antho in the ill III fated blacksmith shop whan so many of hla his brethren were murdered he be being shot in toe the thigh and only escaped death by feigning and pulling the dead over him the survived these dreadful ordeals with five small email children and Ra gathered fathered to illinois and there helped to build a city mr foutz fontz being chosen a bishop of one of the wards the fam ily was driven out with the saints and their next stopping place was garden grove they next came on to winter quarters and in 1847 1947 arrived at salt lake L ake city soon alter after the plo pioneers mrs foutz fontz wat wai soon deprived of her compan companion ion leaving her to battle with her large family in this then a desert country in the year 1860 1850 she settled at pleasant grove and has resided here ever since she was a remarkable woman ret retaining her faculties unimpaired until kl death she has acted a noble part she leaves a lar larae and honorable posterity twelve c hildren children a bur burtred dred and twenty fix grand araud chil dren and add nine dins great great areat grand chil dren sister foutz has been belf sup porting all these years of widowhood she leaves a noble decord her lile lie would fill many volumes none in the church have endured more and remained more faithful to the truth derfun her funeral will be held at the ward house friday ath at 2 p in B W DRIGGS pleasant grove aug 6 1896 |
