Show Claude W.Adams, educator dies in Salt Lake City, services held A 1 ) Bishopric and was a member of the Lions Club. In 1945 he moved to Parowan where he was athletic coach and a math and science teacher at PHS. He was also active in civic and church affairs there. He was Bishop of the Parowan 2nd Ward and chairman of the Iron County Fair. He retired in 1969 and moved to St. George where he served as a guide at the LDS visitor center. He married Leah Lamoreaux in 1965 they were later divorced. ' While in St. George he was an s active member of the Senior Citizens and served as president of the group. He was chosen as "Outstanding Senior Citizen Award" for the State of Utah in 1971. Survivors include sons C. Tebbs, Parowan, David F. Escalante. Daughters Mrs. Richard (Claudia) Halterman, Salt Lake City, Mrs. Wallace (Joan) Lee Panguitch. Fourteen grandchildren. Brothers Woodrow, Orange, Calif., Homer W., Parowan, sisters Mrs. Stanley (Claribel) Griffiths, Mrs. Homer (Lynett) Chilton both of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Imogene Timmons, Provo; Mrs. Sara A.' Mitchell, Cedar City, Mrs. Harris (Afton) Robinson, Montebello, Calif, and Mrs. Wallace (Hazel) Skinner, Danville, Calif. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1:30 in the Parowan , 3rd Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Parowan City Cemetery. CLAUDE W.ADAMS PAROWAN - Calude Whitney Adams, age 71, died in Salt Lake City of Cancer March 19. A prominent southern Utah Educator Adams died at the home of a daughter after a long illness. Born April 2, 1904 in Parowan to Charles D. and Mary Jane Whitney, Adams he attended Parowan High School where he was active in athletics and graduated as validictorian of his class. He attended BYU, U of U, and graduated in 1936 from Utah State University in Logan. He also studied at Bayler University at Waco, Texas and Fairleigh Dickensen in Teanick, New Jersey on grants from the national science foundation. He married Cecil Tebbs, Sept. 5, 1928 in the Salt Lake Temple. She died April 24, 1960. He taught school in Panguitch. He taught history and was athletic coach. He . was very active in civic and LDS church affairs there. He served as a councilor in the North Ward |
