Show Death Claims Zilpha C. Beck Here Monday Mrs. Zilpha Chipman Beck, 67, widdow of C. M. Beck, died at her home here Monday at 10:20 a. m. of causes incident to age. She had been ill for five months. A daughter Of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Chipman, Mrs. Beck was born in American Fork September 27, 1867. Her father was a Salt Lake City pioneer pio-neer of September, 1847, and an American Fork pioneer of 1852. Mrs. Beck was educated in the American Fork schools. Her husband, hus-band, Christian Mathias Beck, died in 1923. Surviving are three sons, Clarence M. Beck and Horace C. Beck, Salt Lake City attorneys, and Filcher C. Beck of Salt Lake City; a daughter, Mrs. Bosone, a member of the state legislature; two brothers, S. W. Chipman of American Fork and T. J. Chipman of Heber; three sisters, Mrs. Eliza Christensen of Salt Lake City, Mrs. R. E. Booth of American Fork and Mrs. C. W. Stultz of Seattle, Seat-tle, and the following half-brothers and sisters: Mrs. Milton Pool of Milford, Mrs. Arthur Adams and Mrs. Alice Dunkley of Salt Lake City; Willard Chipman of New Mexico; Abner Chipman, Ruben Chipman, Leonard Chipman, Mrs. Jane Robinson, Robin-son, Mrs. Mary Robinson and Mrs. Melissa Boley of American Fork. Four grandchildren also survive. A resolution of condolence to the family of Mrs. Beck was passed under un-der a suspension of the rules by both houses of the legislature Monday. It was introduced by Mrs. D. C. Gibson Gib-son (D., Carbon), chairman of the house committee on resolutions and memorials. Funeral services were held yesterday yester-day at 2 p. m. in the Second ward chapel with Bishop Joseph H. Storrs conducting. The opening prayer was given and resolutions of respect from the Italian-American Pacific league, Governor and Mrs. Henry H. Blood and Mrs. Amanda Chipman Stultz were read by Bishop Storrs. Professor Arthur Freber gave a violin vio-lin selection accompanied by Virginia Vir-ginia Freber. The honorable W. W. SeegmlUr, ! former speaker of the House of Rep-j Rep-j resentative spoke, followed by a vocal solo by Mrs. Clifford E. Young. President Clifford E. Young expressed ex-pressed sincere sympathy to the ' family and for the life of Mrs. Beck. I Listrumental music was played by Mrs. Ferber, Helen Riser and Erma Groves. Representative Mcfarland of the state legislature, expressed condolences he with Paul Peterson and Mrs. Maeser having been delegated dele-gated to represent the House of Representatives. The Reverend J. A. Arthur of the First Presbyterian church, gave the closing remarks and prayer. Interment was made in the City cemetery where Rev. Arthur dedicated dedi-cated the grave. |
