Bullock Eelcl Monday Funeral services were held Mon-jday Mon-jday afternoon over tire remains of I Martha Bullock, 85. one of tire old-j old-j est ladies in Pleasant Grove. Stake President W. W. Warnick was in I charge of the services 'and a solo "I Know That My Redeemer Lives," was sang by May R. Walker, accompanied accom-panied by Mrs. Helen Smith. The invocation was given by David Gour-ley, Gour-ley, followed by a duet, "I Know That My Redeemer Lives," by Stella Hardman and Viola Beers, accompanied accom-panied by Vida Conway. A sketch of the life of Mrs. Bullock, Bul-lock, written by her sister. Rose Brown Hayes, was read by her sister-in-law, Alice Driggs Brown. A son-in-law, F. R. Williams read a letter from S. L. Swenson telling of his deepest sympathy. Mr. Williams also al-so paid a glowing tribute to his mother-in-law and her splendid family. F. S. Humphries, a life time friend of the Bullock family spoke "I have known Sister Bullock since the year 1881, he said. Her pleasant nature helped to always cheer my family whenever she visited us. Her father John Brown, a pioneer of 1847 and the third bishop of Pleasant Grove, preached the first L. D. S. Sermon I had ever heard at that time. Sister Bullock often visited my wife during her long illness, and they enjoyed each others company. She always spoke well of her friends and neigh -bore." Brother Humphries then read a short article entitled "Such Is Death." Owen Smoot of Provo, paid high tribute to the Bullock family. He read "The Decline of Death" written by the late Dr. George H. Brimhall, which described the passing of the life of Sister Bullock. He concluded by saying, "these people are builders and they have left a heritage to their children and grandchildren." He also al-so read "The Bridge Builder." Closing remarks were given by W. W. Warnick. He paid tribute to Emily B. Rae, daughter of Sister Bullock, who has devoted her life to her mother and her other daughters who have cared for their mother during dur-ing her declining years. He lamented lament-ed the fact that her only son, Orson Bullock, was too ill to attend the funeral. Pleasant Grove has benefited bene-fited by the good lives of the John Brown family, he said. Other musical numbers rendered during the services were a solo, "Trees," by Edith Grant Young of American Fork, accompanied by Mrs. Helen Smith; and a solo, "Lay My Head Beneath the Rose" by Roy Fage, accompanied by Vida Conway. The benediction was pronounced by Richard D. W'adley. Interment was in Pleasant Grove cemetery where the grave was dedicated dedi-cated by Ezra F. Walker. The flowers were profuse and very i beautiful. Tire following grandsons !of Sister Bullock were pallbearers: Ralph Williams, Earl Goodyear, Orson Or-son Goodyear, Ray Mills, Dean and I Grval Bullock. Biographical Sketch The life of Martha E. Bullock is one of devoted motherhood and fam- ily loyalty. She was bom January j 15, 1851, in Salt Lake City, which was almost a wilderness at that time, I the daughter of John Brown and .Elizabeth Crosby Brown, who came I from sturdy pioneer families. Martha Mar-tha did her part well in the crude but ever industrious pioneer days. The family moved to Pleasant Grove when Martha was 13 years old. Her jolly disposition and ready wit was outstanding in all of her facial contacts. She attended the public schools of Pleasant Grcvc and the Thnpanogor. University at Provo. She married James O. Bullock and , became the mother of nine children. She was the proverbial hclpmnt to her busy husband, yet nlwt.y;; had time to do good to those who called upon her for help.
