for the adan advancement cement of better social conditions that the effect of this training apparent to all there ba has been such a tend tendency enc of late bears ears toward individual selfishness and disregard of the rights lights of others and of the respect due to other people and their property that there was open a splendid field for the very cry kind of work that is being done by b the boy scouts this had bad grown t to be such a mercenary age whereby the children of modern modem ti times had almost abandoned the idea of performing kindnesses and femc services s to others I 1 without a tip or gratuity that older people had been looking for a return of the good old days dabs when nhen a boy would run an errand post a letter or chop an arm full of wood for elderly people for the jov he got out of performing such act of kindness alf had so taken pos possession of the thoughts of all the greed for mone in the hearts of adults adult hail had so implanted it itself elf in the children that we have baie been rearing a generation of in grates and a class of oung boys boyr and young men who aho seem eem to have taken the view that they should get as is much at af possible out of the world and put into it just as little as possible but with the advent adent of the box BO scout movement and the lessons it has ha taught all of those who belong to the th organization our oung loung people are as suming a different attitude tow board an life through the boy bov scout training our boys are brought to understand that each one i is but an integral part of the great human family and that every other member of it is entitled to a liberal portion of the others services service and loyal support they are taught that life is worth while hile only to the extent that the individual makes make the world a better place to live in there I 1 is no other statement of record that is truer than good boys make good men and bad boys make bad men the great object and aim of the
