Show OBITUARY COBB Augusta Adams Cobb was born j n Beverley Mass December 7th IE02 and died in Salt Lake City on i ebruarj 3rd 18S6 History bears record of few livessuch as hers Like a stalk of corn fully ripe has She laid down this life full of good works to receive the harvest rich in store for her of a life immoral She died as she lived a Latterday Saint and with her closing breath attested at-tested to the truth of the gospel for which over forty years ago she sacrificed sacri-ficed all worldly honors and the tender ties of children and friends of home and all that word implies Thename of this lady is wellknown in Utah She was among the first who settledhere She left a home of luxury i dS l oil t R in Boston to dwell in a tent in the wilderness wil-derness and endured the early priva tions incident to a life in these valleys uncomplainingly and this for her re ligious faith She was the first woman in NewEng land who espoused tnis gospel and at that time the Church which now numbers num-bers its thousands could not count its tens She was a lady richly endowed by birth and education with a highly spiritual nature and great strength of character which gave her courage to carry out her convictions When the word of God came to her calling her to forsake all for the kingdom of God She responded and none but God in whom she put her trust can ever know what sacrifices that command to her implied but relying on the promises to such inasmuch in-asmuch as they forsake all for His Kingdom she obeyed While some may disagree with her re ligions views certainly no one can question ques-tion her motives She sealed her purity of motives with her sacrifices and would have dbne so with her bloood had necessity nec-essity required it I Much could be said of the beautiful life of faith and trust that buoyed her up under every trial She has sown a rich field of good works and has gone where a golden harvest awaits her Blessed are they who die in the Lord Funeral notice hereafter COM |
