Show DEATH OF JOSHUA ADAMS Resident of Utah Since 1849 and andOne andOne One of the First Settlers of American Pork Fork American merican Fork FeD Pen Adams one of American Forks oldest and ana highly respected citizens died at athIs athis hIs home in the First ward yesterday evenIng from froIn general genera debility Mr Adams had been in ill III health for over a year ear past being confined to his home most of the time The deceased was born In Bathurst Canada the day of September 1833 and when 10 years or of age his father Ana Adams joined the Mormon church and came to Nauvoo Ills In 1844 and from there to Utah In 1849 settling in Mill MIU Creek After one year there he came to American Fork in 1850 at which place he has resided ever since He was among the first few tew families to locate at this place and has taken an active part In the of this vl vicinity sharing In all the h hardships of the early settlers of thIs country and was truly a pioneer He was wan the father of thirty two children having had three wives sixty grandchIldren and two children Funeral services will wiH be held in the First ward meeting house Monday ronday at I 1 Funeral services over oer the remains of Mrs Mary Okey were held in the First ward meeting house thIs afternoon A crowd of friends and rela relatives tires tives being present to show their res respects poets to the departed A number of speakers spoke of th the long and useful life Hie of the deceased Mrs Oke Okey died at atthe atthe the home of her son Joseph In the First ward day before yesterday of old age and general debility She was 86 6 yearS of age The remains ere interred in inthe Inthe the city cemetery SherIff Marmon Game Warden Jones and County Attorney Rob Anderson of Provo came over this morning and drove droye up to Alpine for the purpose of InvestigatIng U gatIng Ung some reported unlawful killing of deer The report comes from Alpine that some citizens of that yesterday y saw at least head of deer They counted head In one bunch and say sav there were two more bunches with f fully that many in The sight was too much for some of the old time deer hunters and the they followed them and took several shots at the bunch and rumor Sll says S they had venison for supper last night The e who have bave had charge of the securing the land for the Central experiment farm between here and Lehl Lehi met est rda in connection with the 1 state commissioners and selected the farm site Th They decided on eighty acres of which Is In American Americ n Fork precinct and seven in Lehi The I site will COt cost the Ule county of which has been appropriated and it Is thought that the county commissioners wm will appropriate the other 2000 at their next meeting Miss Ida ChIpman who has been VIS VISiting the past three weeks on the coast returned home yesterday esterday |
