highway commission approves price route ebe transcontinental trans continental auto A uto route Is I 1 S now officially selected I 1 last sundays salt lake tribune contained the following account of the findings of the state highway commission in regard to tho the gra grand nd junction salt lake automobile highway the grand junction salt lake 0 3 automobile highway will bo be in ah shape po for transcontinental travel by july ju Y I 1 of this year is the statement made mad e by davo mattson of tho the state highto way commission after a meeting e in 0 of that body held cst erday 0 res solutions necessary to at once start work on this important link in the transcontinental route were passed and work will start at once this is the net not result of tho the visit made to salt lake a week ago by a delegation of good roads boosters from co colorado and the towns in utah through which this route will go according to mr mattson will bo be come slight changes in tho the original plana plans made necessary to save expense save time and give a greater benefit to tho the citizens of utah from grand junction the route will almost parallel tho the rio grando railroad and go direct to castle dale bale this gives the commission a highway already constructed with a fine road which is daily used by the residents of that pait of the state going to and from the county seat rt nt castle dalo dale prom from castio castle dale tho the route will be divided ono one branch going to salina through salina canyon and the other going to price the latter will be the more direct route but the si sa lina route will give better roads at a lev less grado tho the salina route will take the tourist through sanpete valley to nephi payson spanish fork and into provo through spring ville some of the best recently made roads in the state will bo be covered by this debute route which has already been mapped by the tribune the other branch from casile castle dale goes to price over a well established road hero here the present road from price to castle gato gate will be followed from castle gate a new now road will be built up willow creek canyon to the state highway already built between theodore and ana cotton colton this will bo be followed to colton and the road down spanish fork canon to provo used the new stretch of road will traverse the canyon followed by the railroad through nolan and kyune ayune which otho otherwise fwise would cost a great amount of money to build i A meeting of the state highway commission and the state board of i corrections is scheduled for next thursday at which time the highway commission will ask for a camp of convicts to help on the road up willow creek A great amount of rock work and dugway is necessary here which means considerable hard labor from the above it will be seen that the mosi direct route between grand junction and salt lake runs by way of price giving this city tho the bene benefit f to of f most of the automobile travel of the transcontinental trans continental highway wa
