Show Theron Ashcrof t named commencement speaker, President Theron Ashcroft of the St. George Temple Presidency Pre-sidency will be the Graduation Gradua-tion speaker at the Cedar City L. D. S. Institute of Religion Graduation Exercises to be held May 21, at 8:15 p.m. The exercises will be held in the new Institute of Religion building at 650 West Center. President Ashcroft was born in Hyde Park. Utah September Septem-ber 28, 1908. Graduated from B.Y. High 1924, Utah State University 1937, with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. He married marri-ed Lucretia Parsona 1929. They are the parents of the following children: Ann Judd, Marie Hansen, Don Kay, Judith Jud-ith and Susan. Another son, Charles, died several years ago. President Ashcroft has been a Bishop in the Bishopric as a Counselor, a member of the High Council, and as President Presi-dent of Cedar West Stake. He and Sister Ashcroft presided over the Irish Mission, an he is now a Counselor in the Temple Presidency. He has served on the Planning Plan-ning Commission for Cedar City, has been a Director of ' THERON ASHCROFT the Chamber of Commerce, and served on the Parks Commission. Com-mission. He was a Prof essor at Southern! South-ern! Utah State College since 1939, and is now retired from that profession. He is a great outdoorsmen, among one of the first groups to explore and hike the Zion Narrows. t During his life he has taken a great interest in the Lama-nite Lama-nite people. . |
