The question of issuing permits for tho continuance of the weekly four-round boxing bouts which has been held In abeyance by tho new board of supervisors, su-pervisors, again was taken up today by the board, and an ordinance proposed pro-posed by Supervisor Gallagher considered con-sidered Gallagher's ordinance, If passed will eliminate the amateur provision, which was supposed to govern gov-ern contestants under the old ordinance, ordin-ance, but which was never enforced, and place the weekly fights on a strictly professional basis. Boxers may meet for a purse of any amount, but the bouts must be limited to four rounds. Other provisions of the ordinance or-dinance are: A tax of $250 per year on clubs Btaging four round bouts; amateur bouts must be staged ouly by clubs affiliated with the Pacific Athletic association and between boys who hold registration cards in the associa- ' Hon; prizes of limited value may bo' nwauled to amateur boxcrB. |
